    Mrs L Georgeson

Class Teacher (Monday, Thursday & Friday) Hello! I’m Mrs Georgeson, and I have been teaching across the primary years for over 15 years, gaining valuable experience across all year groups. I hold a BA (Hons) in Primary Education, with a specialism in Early Years. I joined Little Sutton in September 2022, initially teaching in KS1 before moving to Year 4 this year, where I job-share with Mrs Singer. Having recently begun my journey into school leadership, I am proud to be working alongside Mrs Philip as Deputy Headteacher, helping to drive the school forward and ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

I have a real love for teaching and learning and love being in the classroom, inspiring children to develop their knowledge, skills and curiosity about the world around them. Reading is a passion of mine, and I strive to nurture a love of books in every child, helping them discover the enjoyment, imagination and learning that reading can bring. I am also passionate about PE and sport, enjoying a range of sporting activities outside school. I believe that physical activity play an important role in supporting children’s physical and mental wellbeing, helping them to feel happy, healthy and ready to learn.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sport and playing padel. I am a big supporter of Liverpool F.C and I like to travel to see new places.

Working closely with children, colleagues, families and the community, I look forward to working together to providing the best learning experiences for our pupils at Little Sutton and I look forward to what we can achieve together!

Class Teacher - Friday Afternoon Hello! I’m Mrs Dutta, and I have been working at Little Sutton Church of England Primary School since 2020. I joined the team as a Teaching Assistant (TA) and, in 2023, I was delighted to be appointed as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

I am fortunate to work with children across all year groups, and yes, I do know everybody’s names !

In school, I particularly enjoy teaching the creative aspects of the curriculum, where I can see children using their imagination, developing their skills, and feeling proud of what they have achieved.

I also love using my creativity to transform empty display boards into vibrant showcases of the children’s work. It is won-derful to see the children admiring and celebrating each other’s achievements.

Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, photographing famous landmarks, and baking sweet treats for family and friends.

Autumn 1

Autumn 1

Welcome to Year 4 – Autumn 1 🍂❄️
We are very excited to begin our new school year together! This half term, our topic is ‘Frozen Adventures’, where we will be exploring the Arctic through a range of exciting and engaging learning experiences.

Meet the Year 4 Team
Mrs Georgeson will be teaching Year 4 on Mondays, Thursdays and Friday mornings.
Mrs Singer will be teaching on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Mrs Dutta will be teaching on Friday afternoons.

See below of some of the learning we will be doing this half term!

English – Race to the Frozen North
Our English learning will be based around Race to the Frozen North, which tells the story of explorer Matthew Henson and his journey towards the North Pole.

During our English lessons, we will develop our writing skills by learning about:

Expand noun phrases by the addition of modifying adjectives, nouns and prepositional phrases
Choose nouns or pronouns  appropriately for clarity and cohesion and to avoid repetition
Use fronted adverbials
Organise paragraphs around a theme (to organise and sequence more extended narrative structures)
Use commas after fronted adverbials

Geography – Exploring the Arctic
In Geography, we will continue our Arctic adventure by learning about Matthew Henson and his journey to the North Pole. We will use maps of the world to explore climate zones and biomes, before investigating the physical and human features of the Arctic.

Science – States of Matter
In Science, we will investigate the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. We will explore their different properties and investigate how materials can change from one state to another through processes such as melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation.

Design and Technology – Survival Torches
In DT, we will be thinking like Arctic explorers and considering what equipment might be useful for survival. We will design and make our own torches, developing our practical skills and thinking carefully about the purpose and design of our products.

RE – How Muslims Worship
In RE, we will be learning about Islam and exploring how Muslims worship. We will learn about some of the important practices, places and objects associated with Muslim worship and develop our understanding of how faith influences people's lives.

We are looking forward to a fantastic half term of exploration, discovery and learning as we embark on our Frozen Adventures! ❄️🧭
