    Miss Edwards

Class Teacher I’m Miss Edwards, EYFS Lead. This is my twenty-fifth year of teaching after gaining a degree in Marketing and Educational Studies, before completing a PGCE. I began my career in KS1, I then moved to Year 6, where I stayed for fourteen years. I've been a Deputy Head and even an Acting Head, but in the classroom is where I'm happiest and where I belong. Seven years ago, I made the leap to EYFS, with the fabulous Mrs Graham. As a creative person who looks for the fun in learning, I really enjoy EYFS and the magic the children bring to it. I love books and create a classroom rich in storytelling and language. Language is the basis for all learning and helps unlock all subject matter. I love a classroom filled with chatter. We chat a lot as we play in Owl Class. That chatter helps us with our learning, but it also helps us to stay connected, support each other and feel a sense of belonging, so we can help each other thrive.

Growing up on a farm, I love the outdoors and value the opportunities we have in our wonderful school grounds, to take our learning outside. Nature is fascinating and a brilliant tool to get children wondering, investigating and caring about themselves, each other and the wider world.

It's never boring when you're in a room filled with four and five year olds. It's an adventure and we look forward to sharing our adventure with you.

EYFS Teaching Assistant, Forest School lead and Conker Club Manager Hi, I’m Mrs Graham, EYFS TA. I’ve been working with children for longer than I can remember, first as a childminder and then as a classroom TA for the last 14years. I started as a Year 6 TA supporting maths, but made the move to EYFS with Miss Edwards and enjoy the spontaneity of early years – every day is different. I qualified as a Forest School Lead in March 2021 and really value outdoor learning and experiences this gives children.

I am also the Conker Club Manager, overseeing the wraparound care for all of the children in the school. I enjoy the opportunity to spend time with children from all year groups, helping to support their interests and am committed to creating a welcoming environment where children can relax and enjoy some well-deserved down time with their friends from the wider school community.
Welcome To Owl Class

Welcome To Owl Class

Twittwoo! We’re Owl Class.  We’re a really creative and enthusiastic bunch of friends who are exploring all the skills needed to become life-long learners.

Together, we are aiming to REACH our potential by becoming Resilient, Engaged, Ambitious, Creative and Healthy.  Every one of us is unique and we all have different ideas, strengths and personalities, but we are all capable of great things and these are the learning powers that will help us achieve them.

Autumn 1 Topic - We Are Amazing

Autumn 1 Topic - We Are Amazing

It's an exciting term.  Our first term in school!  As we come together for the first time as Owl Class, we will be getting to know each other and find out what makes each and everyone of us AMAZING!  Through the books, 'The Friendship Bench' and 'Amazing', we will discover what it takes to be a good friend and how supporting each other helps each and everyone of us thrive.  We'll learn that we are all different in so many ways, but that essentially, we are very similar, too.

As we settle into new friendships and routines, we'll explore our amazing bodies and what they can do as we put them to the test in PE and explore our senses in science.  We'll become dentists as we learn just how to look after our teeth with the help of a giant set of teeth and an enormous toothbrush.  We'll become sculptors as we improve our finger strength by sculpting clay figures of ourselves in the style of Antony Gormley.

This term is all about getting to know each other and getting to know ourselves a little more.  It's going to be lots of fun and filled with friendship.

A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life

The EYFS class is a busy one.  When the children come home and you ask them what they’ve done today, and their response is ‘play’, it’s true, but there is structure and context behind that play which develops into exploration and investigation.  To keep you in the loop, an overview of our learning adventure can be found to the right and a timetable of our week can be found in the document section.  We’ll also keep you updated with posts to Facebook and Instagram.
